Egy elvi tisztaságú terv | A design of clear theory

It is rare that I comment on a calibre or design but Dietrich Lubs in the design of Braun AB4 alarm watch consistently applied the puzzle principle. Out of the calibre there are no screws and no soldering.

Házát az autók önhordó karosszériájához hasonlóan tervezte. The case is designed as the 'monococque' chassis' of cars.

A szerkezet bels? burkolatát rugalmas karmok fogják, melyeket szintén a müanyag rugalmasságát kihasználó rúgóként müködö keretek rögzítenek.

The alarm can be switched on by slightly sliding up the whole back of the body.

Sliding up more you can change the battery. The clock can be disassembled without a screwdriver by pulling out the crowns then slightly opening the half-cylindrical back part and at the same time pushing together the sloted tube normally guiding the alarm crown. The inner cover of the calibre is fixed aby flexible hooks nd secured by frames working like springs using well the flexibility of the plastic.

Even the parts connecting the battery + and - ends with the calibre are made of sheet metal.

Sorry to say that admirable puzzle design lead to the two errors I had to correct on that clock:
  • One of the sheet metal parts was loose. It did not supply current.
  • The time setting crown did not move the hands.
